More about the PillBottle Stones Stove

This is a two-burner stove with no assembly, no valve, no warmup, no priming, no pumping, no fuel measuring, no residue and no seams to leak. It can't corrode, can't plug up and can't get crushed, and boilovers don't put out the fire.

Inside the pop-top pill bottle (you can't misplace the lid) is a titanium windscreen that wraps around your pot for faster cooking. Two fiberglass ground patches go under the Stones so fuel can't wick out into the dirt or the picnic table.

The safest backpacking stove

The PillBottle Stones Stove is the safest backpacking stove: there is no liquid to spill, and the only emissions are water vapor and carbon dioxide, the same as our breath, so it is totally safe to use indoors.

Fire, a new way

The Stones absorb the alcohol you pour into the pill bottle. Stack two Stones on a patch, set your pot on top and light (no stand needed). Instant hot fire, with no soot and no smell. No measuring, no warmup time, no pourbacks, no liquid to spill.

The flame blows out as easily as birthday candles, or you can set a cup upside down over the Stones. They are cool in 20 seconds. Put any half-full Stones back into the pill bottle to be recharged full, so no alcohol is wasted. Ethanol alcohol burns the hottest with no soot, but any flammable liquid can be used in an emergency.

  • Boil 32oz water in 6 min: 4 Stones under one pot

More about the SnowStoneStove

Inside the jar: 4 SnowStones that recharge full of alcohol in about a minute, 4 gold ground patches that keep the Stones clean and make the flames last longer, a 12" titanium foil windscreen that wraps your pot, two titanium SimmerRings and a flint sparker. We also include two labels with fuel data and advice on the best ways to cook with SnowStones.

Our new SimmerRing

Simmer your food with the titanium SimmerRings: a small one for one Stone under a cup, and a big one that wraps all four Stones to simmer a big pan. The SimmerRings make lots of little flames that burn for 30+ minutes to keep your coffee warm, fry that fish filet or dry out your wet socks.

There are no failure modes

No hinges, no rivets, no o-rings, no valves. No repair kit needed. All 4 SnowStones make a very stable base for your big pot or frying pan, and it can't tip over like those tall canister stoves. It burns 100% at high altitudes and 100% in freezing temperatures, and needs no stove stand.

Whether you use a single mug or several pots for your camp meals, the SnowStoneStove makes your meals fast and fun.

Why trade in your old alcohol stove

If you are a backpacker, you probably have an alcohol stove, like the Trangia, or one you made from a coke can or a catfood can. By now you know the classic alcohol stove is fussy and fragile. It tips and spills, it's hard to put out, it needs a warmup, a boilover snuffs it out, its tiny holes plug up, you have to measure the alcohol carefully on a dark night, and you need a stand that is just the right height.

Pack a SnowStoneStove and all those hassles are gone. From taking it out of your pack to eating a hot meal, it delivers dinner faster than any other alcohol backpacking stove. And you can blow out or snuff the flame faster than turning off that hot valve handle on a canister stove: blow it out like birthday candles, or set a pot upside down over the SnowStones. There is no liquid alcohol anywhere to spread a fire.

Fast recharge for big groups

In a minute, each SnowStone absorbs 15 grams (1/2oz) of alcohol and is ready to cook again. In a pinch you can burn any flammable liquid (gasoline, kerosene, acetone, turpentine, lamp oil and so on), but they make soot on the pot. SnowStones are made with aerospace ceramic and never degrade or wear out.

The jar, with charged-up Stones inside and full of alcohol, holds 7oz of fuel, so you don't need an extra fuel bottle on weekend hikes. Or put the Stones and other parts into any container you prefer. The fiberglass ground patches stop fuel from wicking out into the picnic table, stump or rocks, and the tough 8oz PET jar has a metal lid with a gasket disc.

More about the PaintCan Stones Stove

No other camp stove can match the amount of hot food this stove delivers per ounce of pack weight.

And no other stove approaches its reliability, because there is nothing that can fail: no control valve, no brackets, no rivets, no gaskets or o-rings to leak, nothing under pressure. It is not affected by altitude or temperature, it can't tip over, there are no empty canisters to carry home, and it burns any flammable liquid. (Ethanol alcohol is best: zero soot, high BTUs.)

More about the AlCandle Alcohol Candle

To light, remove the plug in the lid and light with a match or BIC, or touch the hole over a lit AlCandle. When alcohol burns, the only byproducts are water and CO2, just like when you breathe out. Wax candles produce soot that can collect on walls and ceilings. Unlike popular oil and alcohol lamps, there is no liquid inside the AlCandle, so no spills can happen that could catch on fire.

Charge the AlCandle by slowly pouring in 2oz of alcohol, which soaks into the absorbent core. Then put the foam plug into the hole to stop evaporation. If you will be storing your AlCandles for years, also put them inside a ziplock bag. Isopropyl alcohol 99% is the best fuel.

Put AlCandles in your bug-out bag, glove box, backpack and purse, and on your dining room table, night stand and patio table.
